Greeted warmly with patient server and seated quickly. Unfortunately cutlery was a bit dirty and father was not impressed. Food was served within 10 minutes, extremely
fast service for dinner.
Deep fried tofu
Topped with basic sweet and sour sauce, crumbled peanut and cucumber not too special but the tofu itself was lovely, crunchy and crisp upon first bite, hot and soft in the centre, a great entree. 8/10
Kk pork ribs
Very crunchy, not what I was expecting, but pleasantly surprised. Mildly spicy, pleased with the crunch! The basil leaves were a really good topping. Pleased that these that
the rib pieces had a bit more bone for munching which I personally prefer! 7/10
Butter prawns (~10 king prawns)
The perfect amount of salt and sweet buttery taste, the prawns didn't quit so much have the taste itself but when eaten with the floss tastes great. I was expecting more
crunch so that factor was lost on me. 6.5/10
Sambal eggplant
Soft and mildly spicy, paired well with the prawn. Texture of the eggplant is quite soft and not super chewy or tough. Personally I like a bit more chew. But overall the taste was very authentic and a good choice. 7/10
Steamed chicken
Last order for the ones who can't tolerate spice in our family. Slight peanut flavor, tender upon the first bite. Has a pile of bean sprouts underneath which were average. 6.5/10
Rosie
It's a lovely Malaysian shop, pet-friendly as it has an partlycovered outdoor portion. Very genuine, with a rather mixed clientele. I noticed several regulars are having fish head rice noodles, the portion is so substantial, it can feed at least two. I ordered Mummy Chicken, it's an unusual item, one which I have not seen on other M'sian store. Basically sugar-fried, sprinkled with white sesame, thus a striking black-and-white contrast. The caramelized chicken tastes slightly sweet with sesame aroma, is that Mummy's cooking? I am enchanted, albeit not my memory of home cooking. A lovely experience for me.
